ABOUT US
ABOUT US
We are a non-denominational Christian church seeking to go back to the New Testament church in belief and practice in a modern day context. Undoubtedly God has created each and every one of us for a specific purpose. We believe that God has put together this church one person at a time. This page is dedicated to sharing who we are as a church and who we are as individuals. We want you to feel as welcome as possible. If you have any questions at all feel free to click here to reach out to us.
Meet the Team
The Christian Church of Litchfield started with a small group of people who came together out of a shared desire to create a different kind of church—a church that was not defined by a specific place or a specific gathering time, but by a group of people living out the truth of God’s Word by modeling grace and by loving and serving others. Part of our journey has included meeting in other church buildings, a hotel, and a school building.
1973
The first church service was held at Yeager Lake. Following the lake, they gathered at various locations and settled at Pizza Man for worship.
1974
The future site of CCL was purchased.
1977
CCL held its first worship service in the new building on the Lake road with their new senior pastor, Steve Revisky.
1989
The congregation built a new santuary as it tripled in attendance.
2018
The congregation welcomes their new lead minister, Skyler Elmer.
There is one, holy God who eternally exists in three persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God created all things visible and invisible. God is perfect in wisdom, power, and love, knowing all things past, present, and future, and his sovereign plan of redemption was set in place before the foundation of the world. (Gen 1:1-2, Dt. 6:4, Heb 11:3, Eph 1:9-10; Rev 13:8)
Jesus Christ is God’s only begotten Son, born of a virgin, fully divine and fully human, and our Savior and Lord. Jesus, who was without sin, died in our place as a substitutionary sacrifice for our sins, receiving our judgement for sin, and reconciling to God all who trust in him. Jesus was bodily resurrected in victory over sin and death. He ascended to the right hand of the Father where he presently reigns as our king, high priest, and advocate until his glorious return. (John 3:16, Col 1:15; 2:9-15; 1 Cor 15:3-8, 20-28; 2 Cor 5:18-21; Heb 4:14-15)
The Holy Spirit is fully divine and active in the church and the world. The Holy Spirit draws all people to Christ by illuminating the gospel and convicting of sin. The Holy Spirit lives in the life of a believer to transform, guide, assure, and empower living a faithful (fruitful) Christian life. (John 16:8-11; Acts 2:38; 2 Cor 3:17-18; Gal 3:2)
God creates all humans, male and female, in his image, and therefore all people have intrinsic value and purpose. By the sin of the first man and woman (Adam and Eve), death entered the world. All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, alienated from God and without hope apart from Jesus Christ. (Gen 1:26-27; Gen 3; Rom 3:23; Eph 2:1-3)
Salvation is only found in Christ and is offered to all by grace through faith. One receives salvation by putting faith in Christ, repenting of sin, and confessing Christ as Lord and Savior. The Bible commands every believer to be baptized by immersion. (Rom 3:23; 5:1-2; 10:9, Acts 2:38, Gal 3:26-29; Eph 2:4-10, Col 2:11-13, 1 Peter 3:21)
We believe the church of Jesus Christ, founded on the Day of Pentecost, consists of all Christians everywhere, and is organized into local assembles called churches. The Church is the body of Christ on earth, with Christ as the head. God’s Church is comprised of a priesthood of all believers, serving as minister of the gospel according to the gifts which God has given them. God has given to the Elders to oversee, shepherd, guard, and equip the church for the ministry of the great commandment and the great commission. (Matt 16:13-20, 28:18-20; Acts 2:14-47; Eph 3:10; 4:11-13; Col 1:18; 1 Pet 2:9-10)
We believe that God inspired the original writings of Scripture and those original writings were infallible in all that it affirms. The Bible is the final authority in all matters of faith and practice. (Mark 12:36; John 14:26; 16:12-15; Acts 1:16; 1 Corinthians 2:12-13; 2 Timothy 3:14-16; 2 Peter 1:20-21)
We believe the Bible teaches that God established marriage in the beginning as a lifelong, exclusive relationship between one man and one woman; that He has reserved sexual intimacy as an expression of love and commitment between married couples; and that any intimate expression of sexuality outside of Biblical marriage is sin. (Genesis 2:23-25; Exodus 20:14, 17, 22:19; Leviticus 18:1-20, 22-23; 20:11-21; Matthew 19:4-6, 9; Romans 1:18-31; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, 15-20; Hebrews 13:4, 1 Timothy 1:8-11; Jude 7)
Christ will visibly return to restore creation and judge the world. There will be a bodily resurrection for the believers to eternal life with God (heaven) and for the unbelievers to eternal judgment (hell). Sin and the effects of sin will be eradicated as believers live in fellowship with God forever in a restored creation. (Acts 1:11; 2 Thess 1:5-12; 1 Thess 4:13-18; Rev 20:11-15, 21:1-8)
